Site for a wine brand consultant

A calling card for a winery positioning consultant: restrained, analytical, and deliberately free of wine-industry clichés.

  • Three languages matched to the real audience: English, Italian, Russian
  • Case studies built around method and outcome rather than around beautiful photography
  • A tone that matches the service: a positioning consultant cannot look like a catalogue

The problem

The brief sounded simple — a one-page calling card. The real difficulty was the genre: almost all wine identity online looks the same, while what is sold here is precisely the opposite, a sober analytical read on a brand.

How it works

I built from tone rather than from blocks: quiet typography, clear hierarchy, case studies with a method and a measurable outcome instead of aspirational lines. Three locales were designed into the structure from the start rather than bolted on later.

The hard part

The first version was rejected — not on features but on how it looked. That was the right call, and the fix wasn't the markup but the premise: I had assembled the site from structure, whereas in this genre tone decides. The second version started from how it should feel, and was accepted.

Evidence

  • The site is published and running
  • Three languages live at one address
  • The client accepted the second version with no visual revisions
